Anne Fedorowytsch is a social media professional with a background in sports media and communications. Anne’s love of fashion and the finer things in life inspired her to create her self-titled website www.annefed.com. Her fabulous website is where she utilises her engaging social media expertise to share authentic snapshots from her fashionable life.
Like any true Melbourne girl, Anne is looking forward to spring racing. We thought this would be the perfect time to get to know her better and find out what fashions she thinks will feature prominently on race day!
1. What got you into fashion blogging and what do you enjoy the most about it?
I basically started blogging as a hobby and a way of filling in spare time. My work hours, as social media coordinator at the AFL, are all over the place so I have some daytime hours to kill. Most of all, however, I love having an outlet to apply my professional communication skills and express my interest in fashion and the finer things in life.
2. Who are your style icons and where do you gain your inspiration?
Unsurprisingly my style icons all stem from Instagram! I’m often looking up the likes of Shalini Papas, Pepamack, Morgan Stewart, Julie Sariñana and Nadia Bartel. I also gain outfit inspiration from Tumblr and magazines with my favourites being Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Porter Magazine.
3. What is the best piece of fashion advice someone has given you?
I’d like to think I’m able to look within myself for fashion advice. By this, I mean learning from my own faux pas’ and over time gaining a greater understanding of what works for me. Style is so personal and unique to an individual so I don’t necessarily believe a slice of advice suits all. However, I have recently coined the mantra ‘buy less, buy better’ so I’m sticking to that!
4. What’s your hot fashion tip for the spring races? And what do you think will be one of the biggest fashion trends we will be seeing at the carnival?
My absolute number one tip for the spring races is to be prepared! If it’s cold, take a jacket. If it’s windy, pack some bobby pins. If you’re wearing new shoes, bring some bandaids. There’s nothing worse than being out all day feeling uncomfortable and paranoid about such things when they can be prevented with a little preparation.
I’ve got my money on seeing plenty of pantsuits and relaxed tailoring at this year’s carnival. Both trends are untraditional for the racetrack but their runway prominence this season can’t be ignored.
5. Looking forward to summer, what are your top three must-have shoes from Styletread? And why?
1. Birkenstock, Women’s Arizona Black
Who doesn’t adore a shoe that is equally comfortable as it is fashionable? My summer go-to shoe is sorted with ‘Birks’ as I love the simple statement they make teamed with jeans and a t-shirt.
2. Therapy, Ezard Black Suede
Lace-up flats are huge at the moment and it’s not hard to see why. They instantly add a touch of fashion to your look compared to a plain pair of ballet style slip-on flats.
3. Guess, Christa Orange Suede
To counterbalance the sensibility of my other two choices I’ve had to include these gorgeous heels that are all about stepping out in style and making an impact. They also offer a twist on the lace-up trend with a tie that can be done up at the back.
6. To finish off can you please complete the following statements:
a. Every woman should own a pair of…
Lace-up heels! My two-year-old pair of Kodi by Tony Bianco have stood the test of time, so much so they’ve been reintroduced this season, and still to this day I find myself constantly reaching for them first.
b. I never leave home without…
A decent tube of lip balm. I’m legitimately obsessed with maintaining dry-free lips at all times.
c. My favourite fashion destination…
Is Paris, hands down. The shopping there is out-of-this-world amazing and I’d go back in a heartbeat for a spend up.
Anne wears the strappy PEACE by Mollini. This gorgeous heel enhances this classic monochromatic ensemble creating a sophisticated look perfect for Derby Day.
Anne has paired the GILLIE by Windsor Smith with pretty florals and opted for a feminine look, spring racing is famous for!
